Bituin Escalante
Following
her phenomenal entry into the musical entertainment circuit, Bituin Escalante’s
star continues to take on greater heights and remained consistently impressive
in terms of her first rate musical artistry and signature vocal prowess.
Touted
as the true heiress to the legitimate diva throne, Bituin has a dynamic
personality and style.
First,
she wowed everyone with her winning interpretation in the Metropop 2000 song
festival, where she made the giant leap into the elite circle of first-rate
artists in the mainstream musical performing arts. Her winning streak continued as she was
adjudged Best Interpreter in ABS-CBN’s 2002 Himig Handog Love Songs Competition
where her song “Kung Ako na Lang Sana” was proclaimed the grand prize winner. The song was considered the biggest OPM hit
of 2003.
She
also took musical theatre by storm with outstanding performances in the Manila
production of Jonathan Larson’s “RENT”, Andrew Lloyd Weber’s “Jesus Christ
Superstar”, Jonathan Larson’s “TickTick Boom”, her much raved about performance
as Effie White in “Dreamgirls”, “Once on this Island” as Asaka and her
nonmusical theatrical debut in “Death and the Maiden” as Paulina Escobar won
her both accolades and nod of the critics.
Bituin
continues to spread her wings and conquered television, becoming part of
ABS-CBN’s A.S.A.P. family and Wowowee, where her talent and versatility are
showcased. The regular exposure she gets
from the show and her regular appearances on big-time TV specials have earned
her the respect and admiration of both local and foreign televiewers.
In
the concert scene, Bituin remains a much sought after performer and has in fact
shared center-stage with many of the best singers and musicians here and
abroad.
Her
unique talent and golden voice has afforded her not only travel and fame, but
also paved the way for recognitions such as being named Aliw’s Most Promising
Female Artist in 2001, the Who’s Who in the Philippines Best Female Performer
in 2001, and the Awit Awards: Best Performance by a Female Recording Artisit in
2003 and the Best Performance by a Duet Mon David in 2007 to name a few.
